Pretty in Pink – Accountancy Firm Ladies Support the St Barnabas "Night To
Remember Walk"
Seventeen ladies from
Carpenter Box joined 1,000+ other Worthing ladies who between them have raised
over £260,000 in their support for the "Night To Remember Walk" in aid of
the St Barnabas Hospice.
They all gave up their negligees and beauty sleep on Saturday night, donned
their pink t-shirts and walked a half marathon which started at midnight. All
17 completed the walk.
Heather Metcalf
(pictured at the front of the group) commented:
“One of our colleagues,
Tessa Holdstock, who worked at Carpenter Box for nearly 20 years, lost her brave
fight against cancer and spent her last days at St Barnabas, and it was very
comforting for her family and friends to know that she was receiving the best
care and attention - the staff are very compassionate, supportive and caring
both to the patient and their families. In fact, most of our team have friends
and relatives who have had reason to spend time at St Barnabas, and our
involvement in this event is very much by way of a tribute to all of them. St
Barnabas does a fantastic job for the Worthing community and is so deserving of
our support”
“The money we raise by
way of sponsorship is a very practical way of saying thank you to the hospice
for the fantastic work they do. Needless to say, we are hoping for a lot of
tea, sympathy and understanding from the bosses on Monday morning!!”.
Jane Eastaff said of the
evening:
“It was very special and
quite something to be walking with so many other women – we particularly enjoyed
the bit where revellers leaving the Pier Nightclub tried to join in!”

08/04/08 Tax Authorities Home in on
undeclared Property Income

HMRC have launched a campaign
targeted at those who have income from property that has not been declared in
their tax returns. Over the coming months they will be issuing a letter to
Landlords with a help sheet and declaration form requesting details of property
income from 2001/02 to date.
Carpenter Box have put together a basic guide to help clients understand the
general position in relation to the taxation of income from property. The
guide should be helpful in giving the broad outlines of the law, but specific
advice is recommended if you find yourself in this position. To obtain a
copy of the guide please call Chris Coopey on 01903 234094 or e-mail
