The Construction Sector and the Construction Industry Scheme

Building a partnership that lasts...

The Construction SectorThe construction industry is one of the most volatile sectors in the UK economy, and careful planning and advice are needed to maintain efficiency and competitiveness. With years of experience in this sector, we pride ourselves on having an understanding of the specific problems faced by builders, building and civil engineering contractors, and civil engineering consultants, and in being able to recommend effective solutions.

We work with you to help you optimise your performance through advice on appropriate funding, project planning, cashflow planning, payroll services, CIS scheme (see below) etc. We guide you through the maze of regulations imposed on the industry, help you to minimise your compliance costs, and help you to build a successful future.

The Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)

The Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) sets out specific tax regulations for subcontractors working in the construction industry. It states how payments must be processed by contractors who are now required to meet specific obligations under the scheme. These include registering with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), verifying whether the subcontractors you may use are themselves registered with HMRC, paying subcontractors, deducting tax on behalf of HMRC and submitting monthly returns to confirm the payments made.

As part of our solution for contractors, we are able to offer a Sage CIS module, which when used in conjunction with Sage accounts software, assists you in complying with the required processes.
