The Great Carpenter Box Bake Off charity day!

Last Thursday Carpenter Box staff from both the Worthing and Gatwick offices took partdscn2087 in a joint Macmillan Coffee Morning and Jeans for Genes day to raise money for two deserving charities.

The day involved staff coming into the office donning their jeans, a ‘Great Carpenter Box Bake Off’ competition, along with lots of additional games and competitions designed to get people reaching into their (jean) pockets.

An array of cakes and bakes were judged by some very willing volunteers for the Bake Off.

After a tough decision, Star Baker in Worthing was awarded to Nicole Homer for her show-stoppingJeans cake (pictured right). Dawn Norris was also awarded a ‘technical challenge’ badge as she very successfully attempted the Jaffa Cake challenge from this year’s official Bake Off. In Gatwick, the winner was Alaina Clarke with her boozy cupcakes (pictured below)!

The grand total for the combined donations from both offices came timg_1824£446 which almost doubles last year’s total! All donations and gift aid will be split equally between the two charities.

The word’s largest coffee morning is Macmillan’s biggest annual fundraising event to support those facing cancer. In 2015 a total of £25 million was raised from coffee mornings across the country and they hope to raise even more this year.

In the UK 1 in 25 children are born with a genetic disorder and Jeans for Genes day helps to fund a wide range of initiatives to improve the lives of  these children.

Well done to all the competition winners and thank you to everyone who got involved and donated!
