Carpenter Box’s Mental Health Awareness Week 2024

Mental Health Awareness Week is an annual event where communities, businesses and organisations worldwide unite to highlight the importance of mental health. The theme for 2024, “Movement,” underscores the vital link between physical activity and mental well-being, demonstrating how essential regular movement is for maintaining mental health.

A Week of Engaging Activities

At Carpenter Box, we embraced the awareness week with activities designed to encourage movement among colleagues. Each event, organised by our Mental Health Champions, not only supported physical health but also promoted an open dialogue about mental health.

Monday: Colleagues gathered at the Worthing office entrance at 1 PM for a seafront walk, enjoying the fresh air together. Aligning with our theme, staff were urged to share photos of their favourite walking routes, taken during solo lunch breaks or lively outings with pets.

Wednesday: On Wednesday, Alaina led some of the staff from the Crawley office, while Kirsty led a similar venture in Worthing. Employees from other locations also took the initiative to arrange local walks, sharing snapshots of their outings amongst the firm.

Thursday – Wear It Green Day: In a display of solidarity, our team donned green attire, the international symbol for mental health awareness. This simple act was to visibly demonstrate our collective support for those affected by mental health issues. The aim was to show colleagues, friends, family and strangers that we are thinking about the mental health of ourselves and those around us.

Friday: Lisa closed out the week by leading the final lunchtime walk from the Worthing office. This last gathering was a fitting end to a week filled with activities.

Mental Health Champions

The Carpenter Box Mental Health Champions, a dedicated group within our team, have all recently completed mental health awareness training. While they are not trained counsellors, these champions are equipped to listen empathetically and offer support on well-being matters. They play a crucial role in our commitment to the mental health of our staff, providing resources and support that help maintain our collective mental wellness.

Mental Health Awareness Week at Carpenter Box was a success, bringing us together to move, share, and support each other. These activities are just one part of our ongoing commitment to creating a supportive and understanding work environment. As we move forward, we remain dedicated to initiatives that promote good mental health, ensuring that every member of our team feels valued, understood, and supported.
