MHA Carpenter Box presents trophy at the UK Wine Awards 2017

We were delighted to attend the UK Wine Awards lunch run by the United Kingdom Vineyard Association (UKVA), at the Hotel du Vin in Wimbledon on Wednesday.

As UKVA Patrons we sponsored the Best Single Varietal Still White trophy and were thrilled to have presented this to the winner of the award: Bolney Wine Estate for their Foxhole Vineyard Pinot Gris 2016. This is one of Bolney Estate’s most popular wines and for the third year running is the only English wine to be served in Wimbledon boxes and is listed on British Airways first class.

The Judges tasting notes for the wine read: ‘A delightful example of Pinot Gris; pure, expressive, and fragrant with notes of honeysuckle and spiced pear fruit.’

Bolney also took home the trophy for Top Still Wine, also for the Pinos Gris as well as the top award – Winery of the Year!

Congratulations Bolney Wine Estate!

The UK Wine Awards showcase the fantastic range of sparkling and still wines produced across the country, with a panel of 12 wine experts, including Co-Chairs Susie Barrie and Oz Clarke, judging the entrants. Over 293 wines were entered into the Awards, with eight wine trophies being awarded to those that were judged to be the best in their class. 20 Gold, 36 Silver and 127 Bronze medals were also presented to wines that scored highly during the tasting.

We would like to extend our congratulations to all who won a trophy or medal and thanks to the UKVA for hosting a very enjoyable afternoon!
