James trained as a chartered certified accountant at MHA Carpenter Box under the then Managing Partner, and qualified in 2002. With over 20 years of experience, James has worked within a number of sectors and specialisms during his time at the firm. Heavily involved in new starter businesses, associated accounts and tax matters, remuneration structuring, commercial audits, company secretarial support, private client tax affairs and the not for profit sector, in 2013 he settled in our Assurance and Advisory Group.
James oversees a portfolio of clients that cover a wide range of accounts and tax work, and he also delivers to smaller charities and oversees the independent examinations undertaken by the firm. In addition to this, he is part of the compliance team that oversees the internal directions for the firm as set by the Institute, and manages our not insignificant student body.
Outside the office
Slowly being dragged into the 21st century (he even has an iPhone!) James still prefers to spend any quiet time with an actual, printed on paper book, or discovering new music (vinyl please). A good night out involves laughter from lesser known comedians, and sometimes you may find him at a local gallery trying to understand the work hanging around there.
