James Gawman
James trained as a chartered certified accountant at Carpenter Box under the then Managing Partner, and qualified in 2002. He has been involved in a number of sectors and specialisms during his time with the firm, which now spans over 25 years. James continues to oversee a small portfolio of clients that covers a range of accounts, business and personal tax work and company secretarial support.
As the firm’s Compliance Director, he leads on internal matters as set by our Institute, including serving as the firm’s MLRO and Data Protection Lead, sits on the firm’s Technical Committee and co-ordinates much of the continuing professional development training across departments. One of his other hats sees him supervising our multi qualification student group and apprenticeship programme.
Outside the office
James is a big comedy and music fan, and has seen Manic Street Preachers over 50 times. He enjoys reading but can never decide what to read next, so keeps starting books rather than finishing them. When it comes to sports, he hopes walking counts.
