James Gawman
James trained as a chartered certified accountant at Carpenter Box under the then Managing Partner, and qualified in 2002. He has been involved in a number of sectors and specialisms during his time with the firm, which now spans nearly 30 years. James continues to oversee a small portfolio of clients that covers a range of accounts, business and personal tax work.
In 2018 he became the firm’s Compliance Director, leading on internal matters as set by our Institute, serving as the firm’s MLCO and Data Protection Lead and heading our Onboarding Team. He also sits on the firm’s Technical Committee and supports our Company Secretarial Champions. James can also be found overseeing our multi qualification student group and apprenticeship programme.
Outside the office
James is a big comedy and music fan, and has seen Manic Street Preachers over 50 times. He enjoys reading but can never decide what to read next, so keeps starting books rather than finishing them. When it comes to sports, he hopes walking counts.
