John Billings
John qualified as a chartered accountant in a medium-sized firm in London and then gained further experience in PWC in the city, working in both the audit business group and corporate tax departments. He joined Carpenter Box in 1990 and is now our Chairman, having been Managing Partner for ten years.
John looks after a portfolio of family—and owner-managed businesses as well as high-net-worth personal clients. His experience spans a broad range of sectors, and he heads the Agriculture & Rural Business team, including the Vineyard sector.
John is passionate about the success of his clients’ businesses and helps owners and families achieve their goals.
Outside the office
John is a family man and enjoys a walk on the downs, followed by lunch in a local Sussex pub. He loves sports, especially rugby and tennis. However, his main passion is skiing. He has been known to have been dropped into the Canadian mountain wilderness by helicopter to experience the ultimate in off-piste skiing—quite a feat for someone who gets dizzy climbing a step ladder!!
