Wishing Karen a happy retirement!

It is with a sense of both gratitude and sadness that we bid farewell to Karen Scott-Darling, who is retiring after more than 18 remarkable years at Carpenter Box. Karen’s dedication and contributions throughout her tenure have left an indelible mark, and while she will certainly be missed, we are excited to see the new chapter she is about to embark on. As we reflect on Karen’s exceptional career, we send our warmest wishes for her future adventures.
Karen’s impact at Carpenter Box
After working at a top 6 accountancy firm for 18 years, Karen joined Carpenter Box in August 2006. She brought with her a wide range of expertise including taxation of rental business, capital gains, partnership and self-employment, employments, trusts and inheritance taxes.
In more recent years, Karen has worked closely with local solicitors, specifically in Trust and Estate matters, helping retired clients with their asset protection and later life financial needs. She became an Associate and was the face of the Private Client Team for many years, where she was an invaluable member, both though her stellar work for her clients and her collaboration, support and mentorship within the team.
On reflection of her career at Carpenter Box, Karen feels achieving significant growth in her area of the business, working with an amazing array of people and making a number of close friends through networking are key highlights she will always remember.
Well wishes from Karen’s Colleagues
Karen has made a massive contribution to the firm during her time at Carpenter Box. She led the Private Client Tax team for the best part of her time here and her support to me, the partners and all her colleagues has been invaluable. She has been involved in many other aspects of firm life, including the social committee and charity and will be missed by us all. She will also be missed by her clients who she has looked after diligently over the years and has had many messages from them wishing her well. It shows how highly she has been regarded. I hope she enjoys her retirement. It sounds as though she will be living life to the full.

“It has been a pleasure to work alongside Karen for the last 18+ years. Karen joined when I was still a junior/trainee and has passed on her knowledge and wisdom over the years. Karen will be greatly missed by both her colleagues and her clients. Happy Retirement Karen!”
Dean Reynolds, Senior Tax Manager
“Karen was the first person I met in the tax team, back when I was assisting the Accounts team in 2012. In fact she interviewed me to replace Katie as the tax team administrator, I don’t think I came across very confident about my abilities…she decided I would be a good fit regardless and I’m so glad she did! I’ve had nearly 13 fun-filled years of working with Karen now and although I’m very sad we’re losing such a key member of our team, I’m so pleased for her – her early retirement is very well deserved!”
Polly Hastilow, Executive Assistant
Everyone at Carpenter Box wishes Karen a wonderful and well-deserved retirement!
