12 new trainees welcomed at Carpenter Box
A warm welcome
Every academic year, the Carpenter Box recruitment team hosts a drive for trainee positions across our offices in Worthing, Crawley, Brighton, Chichester, Lewes and Portsmouth. We currently employ a grand total of 55 trainees at the firm, making up more than 20% of the overall workforce.
Our September trainees have chosen a variety of professional qualifications. Two of the trainees have chosen to follow the path of studying for the Chartered Accountant (ACA) qualification. One trainee opting for the Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) qualification and another for the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) qualification. We also have three trainees going for the Chartered Tax Adviser joint pathway, two under the ATT/CTA joint pathway and one trainee going for the ACA/CTA joint pathway.
This year’s trainee cohort is particularly special as three of our new starters first met us at our Trainee Scheme Open Evening in November 2024. It’s fantastic to see those initial conversations grow into the start of their professional journey with Carpenter Box.
Worthing office
Our Head Office is welcoming a number of new faces this September. Joining us as a placement year student is Alfie Hyland, who is currently studying at Sussex University. Amrita Jassal has started in our Audit and Assurance (AAG) team and is working towards her ACCA qualification after recently graduating from Brighton University. Also joining Worthing is Amy Cooke, beginning her CIMA training as part of our Outsourced Finance Function team following her graduation from Warwick University in 2024.
Our Business Services (BSG) team is welcoming Bobby Haggis, who joins from Worthing College and will be deciding on his qualification pathway over the next few weeks. Meanwhile, the StarBox team is gaining two new trainees, Darcy Tidzer-Smith and Finley Searle. Darcy comes to us from Worthing College, while Finley has returned to Carpenter Box after completing a placement year with us. Having since graduated from Nottingham Trent University, he is re-joining the firm to continue his career as a trainee, finalising his qualification pathway as he settles into his new role.
Portsmouth office
In Portsmouth, Alice Thurman has joined our BSG team. She recently graduated from Lancaster University and is beginning her ACA training. Oscar Powell is starting as a trainee in the AAG team. He graduated from Nottingham University in 2024 and will confirm his qualification route shortly.
Chichester office
Sanjana Jeeawock has joined our Chichester office as an AAG trainee. A graduate of Portsmouth University, Sanjana will be deciding on her qualification pathway in the coming weeks.
Crawley office
At our Crawley office, we’re delighted to welcome Thnus Sivanesan and Thomas Emmerson. Thnus is an AAG trainee who is beginning his ACA training after graduating from Bayers Business School, London University. Thomas is starting as a TSG trainee, working towards the ATT/CTA pathway following his graduation from Henley Business School, Reading University.
Brighton office
Finally, our Brighton office has welcomed two new trainees. Angelé Basden has joined the Tax Services Team (TSG) team and is pursuing the ATT/CTA pathway after graduating from Sussex University. Alongside her, Yunus Kol has joined the BSG team on the joint ACA/CTA pathway, following his graduation from Southampton University.
This recent intake of trainees reflects the breadth of talent joining Carpenter Box across our offices. We are delighted to have them on board and look forward to supporting their growth and development as they embark on their careers with us.
